Me in a Nutshell
- My name is Ali from Syria / Tartus City, 30 years old.
- Humanist, Environmentalist and advocate of freedoms.
- I belong to the Mediterranean world by culture, looks, and lifestyle.
- I am a Civil Engineer and an amateur Writer.
- I speak Syrian Arabic, English, and Spanish.
- I have a big interest in learning languages, I'm passionate about Arts, Philosophy, and science.
- Music, novels, photoes and movies are my biggest joy.
Why Is This Blog?
As a kid , i grew up with books and children magazines around and i have been a voracious reader ever since, my parents who are educated have always guided me towards reading among other activities and at an early age i could develop my natural love for literature into a nice and attractive skill in writing, be it literary writings or analytic essays that are about different subjects.
منذ صغري أذكر أني ترعرعت والكتب و مجلات الأطفال من حولي , كنت قارئاً نهماً , فوالداي المتعلمين وجهاني دائما نحو عالم القراءة من بين نشاطات أخرى واستطعت في سنٍّ مبكرةٍ أن أُطوّر حبي للأدب وأخلق منه مهارة جميلة و جذابة في الكتابة والتعبير سواء كانت كتابات في الأدب او مقالات تحليلية تتناول شتى المواضيع
i have received praise from family and close friends, and was told that my writings have the characteristics and elements that would make me a good writer, metaphors and eloquence, details and explanations, clearness and easiness, all in a straightforward language that can be easily understood by readers.
وتلقيت الكثير من الإطراءات والتشجيع من قبل العائلة والأصدقاء المقربين, وقيل لي أن كتاباتي تملك كل الخصائص والعناصر التي من شأنها أن تجعل مني كاتباً جيداً, التشبيهات والفصاحة , التفاصيل والشروحات, الوضوح والسهولة, كل ذلك و بلغةٍ سلسة يمكن فهمها بسهولة من قبل القرّاء
Then Unfortunately, the War in Syria broke out in 2011 bringing death, destruction and indescribable pain. The atrocities were beyond description. i spent years asking myself why ?
What is it that makes people so angry to the degree of resorting to violence?
How can people be so cruel , full of bigotry and hatred ?
Why is it so hard to accept those who are different than us? be it in race or religion or desires and tastes or sexuality.
and for all the above factors, isn't there a way to prevent evil Politicians from using those blinded people as tools sowing fear and terror in order to achieve political interests here and there without least care for the suffering they can bring to the lives of other peaceful people ?
ثم لاحقاً ولسوء الحظ, اندلعت الحرب في سوريا في عام 2011 جالبةً الموت والدمار وألماً لا يوصف, وكانت الأعمال الوحشية التي رافقت الحرب بعيدة عن أي وصف, وأمضيت سنوات أسأل نفسي لماذا؟ ما هو السبب الذي يجعل الناس غاضبين إلى حد اللجوء إلى العنف؟ وكيف يمكن لبعض الناس ان يكونوا بهذه القسوة ومليئين بالكره والتعصب؟؟
ولماذا يصعب عليهم أن يقبلوا بوجود الآخر المختلف عنهم سواء في الدين أو العرق أو الرغبات و الأذواق أو التوجه الجنسي؟؟
ولأجل كل تلك العوامل السابقة , ألا يوجد طريقة يمكن بها منع السياسيين الأشرار من استخدام هؤلاء الناس المعمي عليهم كأدوات لنشر الخوف والإرهاب فقط بهدف تحقيق مصالح سياسية هنا و هناك من دون أدنى اهتمام بما يمكن أن يجلبه أولئك من عذابات الى حياة الأناس المسالمين؟
Then, after seven years of observing and analyzing, seven years of sad and dreadful war stories, i came to the conclusion that ignorance combined with Religious fundamentalism, and those two accompanied by political corruption, low consideration for human rights and freedoms, also the degradation of social bonds between different groups and the unjust contribution of the public wealth, all that added more weakness to the previously weak texture of society, differences were so deep and the rift was and still is wide between different ethnic and religious groups of Syria that it threatens of explosion at anytime and whenever some foreign forces try to mess in Syria. The authoritarian governments proved big failure, they wanted to keep people under control and they used religion and the clergy to do so, simultaneously, they silenced the secular voices and clamped down on intellectuals with open-minded and modern political projects for Syria. however, I am not going to expand on that subject here in the introductory section of my blog but for all I mentioned above I believe that in Syria we, the different ethnic and religious groups, need to debate and discuss different matters, we have to find a common basis upon which we should build a new country, a new political system and social connections and a new vision for the future, here comes the role of writers, thinkers and educated and enlightened people. and my blog is just a vessel I want to use to transmit my ideas and opinions to Syrian and non-Syrian people, I want it to be a space for sharing , talking , exchanging opinions freely and in a civil and respectful way.
وبعد سنوات من المراقبة والتحليل, سبع سنوات من قصص الحرب الحزينة والمرعبة, وصلت إلى نتيجة مفادها أن اجتماع الجهل مع الأصولية الدينية وعندما يرافقهما أيضاً الفساد السياسي وإهمال حقوق الإنسان والحريات العامة, كذلك الإنحطاط والتدهور في الروابط الإجتماعية بين مختلف المجموعات والتوزيع غير العادل للثروة العامة فإن كل تلك العوامل تضيف مزيداً من الضعف إلى نسيج المجتمع الضعيف أصلاً, حيث إن الفروقات كانت عميقة والهوة واسعة ولا تزال بين مختلف المجموعات الدينية والإثنية في سوريا ما يهدد بانفجار الاوضاع فيها في أي وقت ومتى حاولت القوى الخارجية العبث بها
